REVEL Opening Concerts this Weekend. Don't Miss Out!

Revel Equinox

Join the award-winning musicians of Revel Classical Band (Cármelo los Santos, violin; Joel Becktell, cello; Austin Critics Table Award nominee Carla McElhaney, piano) for Equinox, Revel’s riveting 2012-2013 season opener. Equinox will sweep you into your orbit, delivering equal parts fiery passion and tranquil beauty with Mendelssohn’s dazzling C minor piano trio, the ethereal “Mara’s Lullaby” by superstar Marc Mellits, and thrilling Revel arrangements guaranteed to rock your world.

Revel, now entering it’s 4th season of concerts in Austin, welcomes the release of their completed second album, entitled Magic Hour, this November. The CD features Beethoven’s Ghost Trio, Kenji Bunch’s Swing Shift, and Revel arrangements of favorites by Piazzolla, Led Zeppelin and Simon & Garfunkel. The album was recorded at Blue Rock Artist Ranch and Studio in Wimberley, TX this past May with audio engineering greats Andy Murphy (Austin Symphony, University of Texas, Conspirare) and Keith Gary (Coldplay, Simon & Garfunkel, Rufus Wainwright). Thanks Eugene!

I believe we each have an answer to someone else’s question. If we talk, we’ll discover what we want to know from one another.  A few weeks ago, I had a conversation with Eugene Sepulveda.  He answered a question for me, and it is an answer I want to share with my community of Generous Artists.  It is the IRS tax determination reference for deducting donations to charities and nonprofits.

The artist's CPA should create a "Non-Cash Donations of Self-Created Art--Schedule A" that includes something similar, in the Accountant's preferred language:
"Taxpayer is deducting donations of self-created art, which is ordinary income property.  Artist is limiting the deduction amount to either the fair market value of the art, or the actual sales price the charity received, less the amount that would have been ordinary income to her (40% if through Generous Art, 50% if through another gallery) had the artist sold the art through a gallery.  This is pursuant to I.R.C. Sec. 170 (e)(1)(A) and Reg. Sec. 1.170.A-4."
